Volcan Miravalles
This active volcano rises 6,650 feet above Guanacaste. Not many hikers use the trails of the 42-square mile forest reserve, even though there are lakes near the summit. The main attraction is the steam vents and mud pool on the western slope. The Institute of Electricity (ICE) produces power from the heated water.
